Inkscape With Drawing Tablet Pressure Sensitivity

Having just downloaded Inscape for Mac, it fell at the first hurdle - pressure sensivity doesn't work, despite trying everything I could find. As a lot of my work is inking, drawing lines of varying thickness using pressure sensivity with the Wacom tablet is absolutely critical. Unless I'm missing something really obvious, Inkscape is unusable. A great shame. This is a fundamental requirement for a drawing program, and should have been implemented right at the beginning. Very disappointed.

Yes, well... Before you start complaining, you could try just asking for help and giving us some information.
There are real people on this forum who are volunteers and might be able to help you with it.

Could you please give some information about which system you use, for example Windows 8 or MacOS number..?
And also which version of Inkscape you have downloaded? This information is necessary for other people to help you.

Hi Kirstie. Thanks for your quick response. I am using an iMac, with OS 10.12.6, and using Inkscape version 1. I have a Wacom tablet which I use all the time for my illustrations, with the pressure sensitivity turned on.

The Wacom tablet doesn't come up as an option no matter what I try. The pressure sensitivity just doesn't work.

Has anyone encountered this, and if so, is there a way to turn it on? I'm baffled.

I have tried all the brush tools in Inkscape, and none respond to pressure. Other apps I have used for vector inking are Illustrator, Graphic, and Affinity designer, all of which work as they should.

My Wacom Bamboo never appears in the Inkscape Input Device list but works so far. The Calligraphy pen is the only "brush-like" brush available BTW:

Why you don´t use Affinity Designer or AI exclusively escapes me.

Exactly yesterday I was trying out Inkscape 1.0 with my Wacom Bamboo. It doesn't work in 1.0 under MacOS yet, it is a bug.

While you are using MacOS 12 Sierra, it is an option to use the older 0.92.2 under XQuartz.
Then you can use drawing sensitivity with the calligraphic tool, but it is still not very smooth. I still prefer Windows for drawing with my Wacom.

@PixelPest, do you use Inkscape 0.92 or 1.0?

Inkscape 1.0 is very new and for MacOS still very much under development.

Thanks Kirstie. I'll wait until they release a version that does work properly with Mac.

Will keep using other programs in the meantime.

I have a Dell Inspiron, WIN 8.1, Inkscape 1.1 and Wacom Pro S. Drawing with the pen in Inkscape's calligraphy mode works fine, except there's no pressure sensitivity. I tried everything I found on the net. Including reinstalling Inkscape.
I had a borrowed Wacom Pro M 3 months ago. First, the pressure sensitivity did not work too, but in a few days after many adjustment, I managed to activate the pressure. When I tried the tablet, I returned it and bought my own, smaller only.
But with Wacom Pro S with the same tool setting, the pressure still does not work. Please, give me an advice.

Hi there.... Just bought the Wacom mobilestudio. Cann't insert text. When I open my digital keyboard Inkscape minimizes to half the screen and whatever I try, it's just not possible to enter text.

Thanks! Problem solved. The pen pressure was activated after reinstaling the Wacom driver.
